House Portrait For Les And Betty

I have a color theory book called “Making Color Sing” and this hot pink used in my house portrait is called “Opera Rose” by Winsor and Newton! Intense colors excite me, and working them into a piece of art with the right harmony and all else, design-wise and form wise, can be quite a process.

I met up with my cousin Les and his wife, Betty, about a month ago to deliver the framed original and two framed prints for each of their sons.

I also put together a fun YouTube showing still photos in progress and a series of speeded up painting videos, with various Beethoven musical accompaniment in the background. (YouTube has a great music audio library of “copyright free” pieces to download and utilize…I find it fun searching for the right music to go with different promotional videos.)

At the end of the above video I included one early painting video at regular speed and with my own voice narration–I was discussing materials and processes and thoughts about the piece. I remember doing that during the early winter on a Friday night. In fact, I had put together two different videos at that time, as a bit of a tutorial expression. I will also link those other two here at the end as well, for anyone interested.

Please feel free to share this post! If anyone is interested in commissioning a house portrait–especially to be finished before Christmas–please email me (eileenslifer@lettersource.com) with some photos and then we can discuss size/details and pricing.

Thanks!
